    🌿”Plant of Protection”🌿

Echinacea is one of my son’s most favorite flowering plants…I asked him why does he admire it so, and he said “because mommy its a warrior’s plant, can’t you see it looks like a spear.”

“Pretty, pretty Prunella,” my teacher used to murmur to this tiny flower with fuzzy leaves and snapdragon face. Prunella or Self-heal, is a wee thing, small in the way of butterflies whose flapping wings can stir a hurricane half a world away. Like a pebble dropped in a pond, Self-heal ripples outward, allowing healing to begin. She reminds you that one properly placed shift, no matter how small, creates concentric circles of effect, each amplifying change. Self-heal knows how to find center from which all else flows. Ripple out from here, she whispers as she helps you discover the secret of your own true healing. If Self-heal appears for you, its time to drop your pebble in the pool.”-Maia Toll

Only have ground ivy in tincture, and so I paired it with eyebright and self heal (all tinctures). Topically, I alternated with warm chamomile fomentations, yarrow poultice and cool aloe vera gel…but my situation was different, I fell and cut my temple/brow (centimeters from my eyelid) and was dealing with lots of swelling/bruising around my eye. Glad to hear your eye is feeling a little better, what have you tried so far?

wow, really Kris!? Were you looking for my beloved ground ivy too? This plant is very dear to me, it healed my eye last year, along with ghost pipe and few precious others. My supplier is currently out of stock and thought about reaching out to you all for help on finding it again, but in no way did I anticipate or expect this…truly fascinating. Have you ever worked it, or is this herb new to you?

Ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea) is indeed an herb that has fallen out of favor in many modern herbal books and materia medica publications, and I’m not sure why? Despite this, it has a rich history of traditional use and is still honored for its medicinal properties by many herbalists and health experts.

“Ground ivy is tonic, diuretic, and decongestant., and is used to treat many problems involving the mucous membranes of the ear, nose, throat and digestive system. A well-tolerated herb, it can be given to children to clear lingering congestion and to treat chronic conditions such as “glue ear” and sinusitis. Throat and chest problems, especially those due to excess mucus, also benefit from this remedy. Ground ivy is also a valuable treatment for gastritis and acid indigestion, Further along the gastrointestinal tract, its binding nature helps to counter diarrhea and to dry up watery and mucoid secretions, Ground ivy had been employed to prevent scurvy and as a spring tonic and is considered beneficial in kidney disorders.”-Chevallier

This here is the best monograph I’ve come across-🌿 https://www.herbrally.com/monographs/ground-ivy
