I have a thing about myths Caryn. We often take a myth and use it without understanding how to plug in the context of what was. Our ways of studying ancient texts or cultural representations don’t get heard/interpreted in their voice, depicting their time and place. The renaissance were notorious for putting a myth in their terms, and not in the terms of the ancients.

As well, I feel we have current myths, truths or generally practices we live by which for me is a myth.

That being said, I would readily join in but I am not clear what you are asking.

There is evidence the ancients found celestial energies in various symbols. We find trees, mountains, lions were frequently used. Prior, horns, birds and women were figurative for celestial energies here on earth. I am not conjuring up their stories, but within art history we see what was used to demonstrate their way of seeing the world.

So what are you looking for? And what is a myth to you?

It is groovy to sense the body’s response. I say give it a go. It is very doable.

Might you have an image of a plant or potion of late? I would love to see.

YOU go girl. I am not sure I understand. BUT exploring is so so important. And trusting what is rising, to let it move through. And to move you. And sometimes where we end up is nowhere near where we thought we were going.

There are clarifications we hone in on that may have a ‘semantics issue.” There is more than one way to say things. And sometimes while speaking seemingly differently we realize in the midst of conversation that we are more alike than different.

So, IF I can say, stay open to question and allow us all to have a conversation with you without discouragement intended.

Wow that is an impressive array of supports. I have slogged it out otherwise. We each have our paths. But I celebrate your work, courage and diligence. And it is so lovely you feel good now.

Who guided you through the various modalities and practices you listed?

    Hey Kimberly,

You tell me first what you taste of horsetail tea! Honestly I have not done a tea in some time. I will give it a go, if I can find any at an early stage of growth.

While I LOVE horsetail and have just massive amounts, I live on property that has been down trodden with use. Not the cleanest use. It was a stage coach stop, a railway stop, a grocery store, gas station and post office. Loads of hard wearing of the land. As I rewild this small bit of land, I feel the horsetail is helping to cleans it. But in doing so, I am not partaking of those horsetail. Only the horsetail growing in 3 foot high raised beds. So my supply for use is limited.

But my participation and relationship with horsetail grows!

Ok, so Kimberly, I am eager to hear from you with your horsetail experiences. Please do share.

Ok I have not tried it on my teeth, but know I will be giving it a go very soon. And I will let you know if I am thanking you or if I will give you some gross herbal practice tossed your way!! LOL

I do wash out my dog’s water bowl with horsetail all of the time. I have soo so much and well it is a great pot scrubber, right there where I need it!

Isn’t that grand! To have this open exchange with the plants and planets so accessible. Do offer just the bits of what you see, pick up or just vibe with. Maybe drop in questions.

I enjoy the conversations. And a so favor the relationships we discover.

    Bravo!

Great questions… I feel same plant two places, more discoveries. I have exchanged with herbalists on the same plant. We would agree to enfold such and such plant. We would come back together. Our offerings with each other were so completely unique. And as we each shared we realized we were saying the same thing in just such different ways. We each approached and “sat” with the plants quite differently. But the plant and person exchange was always rich.

From my experience, I would suggest you tune in to how you are brought to be with the plant. The type of dance card you get with the plant. And keep your notes open and porous reflecting your way of absorbing. While these factors may vary – the plant will be consistent. As well you may pick up things others are not. We found that showed up often. An extra bit of insight because of the type of connection and type of person that was engaged and collecting.

Here here, you offered such clear definitive terms. Nice.

And then I even ask the plant to teach me more than what has been said about the planet. Because what has been said if from the dominant culture of late. I like to see it through a female, (not a yin, or feminine but female vibe.) I even see EACH planet as female. They have been male only far long enough. And yes the female planets are as male as female. In fact all planets are both. Who suggested they cannot be? But that is another lovely lively discussion.

So Mars female. Nettle. Tenacious stalk, worthy of making things with it. Grows when the stink has been (not far from a bathroom often for the soil enrichment.) Has a voice of sting. And its edges are definitive. Nettle is nutritive.

Mars having definitive edges – clarifies boundaries.

Mars having a loud sting – voice is strong clear and lingers. Its actions are fast and without thought, but sting upfront, figure later.

Mars is tenacious – enduring source of making resources which are useful. (Shoes, clothes or whatever you want to do with the fibers.)

    Mars feeds and nurtures.

Now what do I know about Mars from nettle? Mars clarifies boundaries. Holds space with a loud clear decisive voice. Mars is resourceful, tenacious in nature. Mars feeds and nurtures.

And so on…. I am tired of the warrior motif for Mars. Nettle teaches me so much more about Mars.

    How does this feel?

Clyde as well, sorry on my slow response. I was out of range out camping with my grandkids. What a hoot. Thanks for understanding.

    Clyde,

I am not inclined to use a food processor or such as the mess is broader. I want to practice what is doable, and effective. I roughly break down the horsetail. It is added to the oils in a ceramic double boiler. I put the herbs straight into the oil. I get it pretty hot once. And then keep it very warm for the day. I vary this according to the water content. And horsetail is very wet inside. So I tend to this with duration of heat. Sometimes I remove it to sit for a few days or week in a sealed glass container, in the fridge. I check underneath for water. And then I will heat it up to strain it through a ricer, and last through a coffee filter.

I admit using horsetail is new for me in a salve. But I clearly felt to add it. I sense that joint pains would really be added with a salve with horsetail. What do you think?

I am very responsive to tinctures/spagyrics. And then gemmos came along. And I am (this body is) just as responsive to gemmos.

Adding to a blend the scent and taste of rose is just divine. And my gemmos offer taste and aroma with specificity to the plant very keenly.

I do the trees as well. I also find I favor the harvesting in the early spring in the small measure which a gemmo can be. And then to use it 10/1 or at 100/1 makes it very doable.

Sometimes it is when a plant shows up that I engage. I had a burdock show up off my back porch big and bold as burdock is! What a showboat. And the blooms! They are spectacular indeed. I HAD to gemmo them. I have been tending to yin’ning. And this is a lovely ally. I did some chives one year, and added it to my salad dressing! So delicious.

I have stretched out this year with sequoia, and wormwood, blue vervain, and gooseberry. I accidentally did a combo, so I went with it, of black currant, rose and oak to emphasize yin qualities.

I find I make about 6-10 new batches a year. I don’t have to repeat yet as it extends so generously.

    X lovely lovely thread
