I’ve been ordering from Southern Light Herbs for years, and I love their offerings, but I have noticed that some herbs are no longer available from Australian grower – I’m finding it hard to source some things locally. So I’m grateful for your post! I know there are some plants that have to come from o/s due to climate preferences and such, but if there are plants i cant source that can grow here, i try and do without, either growing or foraging it myself, or seeking something else similar.

I love PPC’s extracts as they offer fresh plant tinctures, which has been such a beautiful shift in my practice towards a more vital, animistic and alive Naturopathic practice.

I know Austral has some organic herbs, but I tend to try and avoid big companies that don’t seem to have apparent values (ie. earth stewardship, quality, etc). The cheaper versions of their plants tend to be very low quality (easily seen by the colour, smell etc) and so I decide not to support them with my patronage.

    I can recommend Heidi’s work, she’s wonderful!

Lastly, I have a friend who is a regenerative (not organic due to conventional farms nearby) farmer, who is looking to get into medicinal plant growing. They are in Victoria, south east of Melbourne. If you’re in vic and are genuinely interested, let me know! They are collecting peoples wish lists and hopes to see if they can create a herb farm for local herbalists, which may involve opportunities to come and harvest your own fresh material as well as buying dried. x
